This investment management company required a new corporate platform which ensured that data and critical applications are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a leading financial institution, it is imperative that the disruption to its network in the case of a disaster is minimised. This required that a failover architecture be introduced, ensuring that staff and investors have access to critical information regardless of any downtime of the main system.
In addition, the investment management company wanted staff to be able to access business critical applications from any device, anywhere and at any time. It wanted the most cost-effective and efficient delivery infrastructure to deliver core applications to employees whatever their location.
BLUE Profile’s role in the business continuity project involved the implementation of Citrix to distribute applications to remote sites and a mobile workforce. The new application delivery infrastructure, built using the latest Citrix technology, ensures staff has access to critical application regardless of location or device.
“Citrix technology is a reliable delivery mechanism which gives quick access to resources and information enabling staff to work remotely rather than be chained to a desk,” said BLUE Profile Citrix Consultant, Stuart Charity.
The professional BLUE Profile team built a Citrix backend which enables the financial services remote end-users to access more than 60 business applications via a device with a Web interface.
BLUE Profile built six Citrix Presentation 4.5 servers, installed more than 60 applications and configured a Citrix Access Gateway and VASCO two-factor authentication solution. The gateway enhances the security of the system as there are no open connections to the Citrix servers despite staff connecting via the Internet. The BLUE Profile team also had to conduct a test to ensure if the main system went down it would failover to the back-up, keeping downtime to a minimum.
